The aqueous is more like tamiya, in that in can be thinned with water, alcohol, or lacquer. I've used it successfully with MLT , as have others. -

Compressor leak.
Just one thing to note, which you may know anyway, is that these have a set airflow direction, or "in & out". You can see it easier on Tim's picture, a small arrow behind the gauge, below the red mounting ring,pointing the way. -

I totally agree with Jim & Tim. No matter how much research you've done, nothing will prepare you for the first time you load paint and pull the trigger. There are many ways to skin a cat so don't get hung up on doing things exactly like everyone else. If something works for you, do it that way 😁 -

AK Real Colours Acrylic markers - any good?
I have a few and they come in very handy for little bits & bobs. My first car
That looks great for such a small scale, and brilliant idea to reproduce your first car. I have a full sized moggy to repaint once the owner has had a bit of welding done. Same dark blue colour too. -
