Looking good mate....Can I ask why you put 3 coats of gloss on? I usually only put one coat of gloss on before decals.- pjgtech

WWI Airfix Mk1 Tank / Trench Diorama
Todays little update.... Gave the base a coat of primer last night. Then this morning it got its first coat of paint, a dark brown flat earth, it will get sevearl more coats of varying colours to try to simulate the dirt, mud, etc. I have added a couple of dead tree stumps, as photos always seem...- pjgtech

Latest Acquisitions (2026)
Turned up this morning, from our very own SMS, Thanx John, nice set of figures, really, really detailed, and you can mix and match the arms, heads, weapons, accessories, to make about 30 different figures. I bought these to use on my current WWI Mk1 Tank diorama, but sadly they are just a bit... -
WWI Airfix Mk1 Tank / Trench Diorama
My idea of possibly using 28mm wargaming figures on this diorama seems to be an epic fail! They arrived this morning (Thanx @John) and I quickly knocked one up (Oo-er Missus!) but, sadly, they are just too big, [Doh!] My calcs worked out they may be about 6'5" ish so a tad big, but in reality...- pjgtech

Airfix 1/76 scale WW1 Male MK1 tank
Last night I added some weathering, a grime wash, then a mud wash, so the tank is now looking suitably dirty for trench warfare.... I might add a few bits of damage, dents, chips, scratches, etc and then she will be ready for her final matt coat... I've got some new mud pastes on order, so may...- pjgtech

WWI Airfix Mk1 Tank / Trench Diorama
Added a bit more mud, made up a small trench ladder, suitably rustic, and added track marks to the mud where the tank will go.... I'm thinking I will line the trench sides with timber, seen a few photos of various trench linings, eg: planks, timber poles, etc, might use cut down cocktail...- pjgtech

Nice pic for comparison, (y) I suppose if you put the standard unit, eg: jar of Tamiya paint, they would not be familiar with that, so would still have no idea of scale! Lol- pjgtech

Airfix 1/76 scale WW1 Male MK1 tank
The one and only decal is now on, the front panel, its HMLS Dragonfly..... Still waiting for the gloss varnish over the decal to dry, then will start the weathering.... a little grime wash, then a little rust wash and then mud, lots of mud! :)(y)- pjgtech

Not quite finished my Mk1 tank yet, but when its finished I think it deserves a little diorama/vignette. I am thinking a small base not set anywhere specific, but a muddy field, with a small trench, maybe a few little figures, and the tank crossing the trench, or something similar. Black camo colour is also now on, and I have supplemented the red/rust track colour with a dark iron, and will add a rust/track wash once its been glossed up. Have also now added the rear steering carriage. Still don't quite understand how that rear contraption helps with steering? (well...- pjgtech

Scalemates problem
Some forums, websites, etc have a "contact me" option, to contact the site owner or mods, so if so you could try contacting them as there may be an issue with your log in details that they can sort out or give you a new one. Often the contact details are right at the bottom of the home page... -
