    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Hi all So some purchases from the past week, mostly from last week's show (pics to follow). Even if I do say so myself, I really was quite pleased with the show purchases! ACW as usual. ATB Andrew ---------------------------------------------------------- So first up some masks for...

Good old AS 186 rebadged....many people I know have used this....I've had mine for eight years and it's still running fine..

Nick's Airfix 1/48 Spitfire Mk XIV.

Cockpit looks great. You may have seen that I used the pilot in my Mk XVIII so it's nice to see how good it can look empty! Great work. ATB Andrew

    Workbench, show us yours

    That's a most realistic looking scooter/moped! Great work!! 😉

    Andrew's 1/48 Airfix Spitfire XVIII (A05140)

OK chaps, bit more of an in-depth update: pilot added to cockpit and generally looking ok in situ cockpit 'tub' closed up and fits very well initial fuselage dry fit tests are promising, with interesting way of fitting fuselage to lower wing helping a great deal. And a WARNING for any of you...

    Andrew's 1/48 Airfix Spitfire XVIII (A05140)

Hi all So cockpit and pilot are ready for assembly....just waiting for the varnish to fully cure. In hindsight, it would have been easier to not glue the cockpit's main frame elements in place until all were painted, as it makes installing the seat in particular much harder....you live and...

    Workbench, show us yours

As always, some great work areas. In my case, as some of you will know, the below table in my kitchen is it. To be honest I do sometimes wonder how I manage to get on with such a small space and turn out vaguely reasonable builds. My daughter did move out about 9 months ago but she told me...

    Andrew's 1/48 Airfix Spitfire XVIII (A05140)

Thanks chaps. He's actually much better when fully in focus!! 😂 He really is very nice. Unfortunately, when I had a quick look at my phone after taking the picture he looked alright but by the time I was about to post the picture, it was too late to get a better shot as I'd started to paint...

    Andrew's 1/48 Airfix Spitfire XVIII (A05140)

OK chaps, so just a short update...actually from the beginning of the week but not had a chance to post the pics until now Cockpit, seat and IP painted. Just need to assemble it all. As I said not going overboard, what with the pilot going in....I'll just do a pin wash. Prop and spinner also...

    Andy's 1/48 Spitfire Mk1a

They really do look very good indeed!! Very well done! Now I just need to pull my finger out! ATB Andrew

    Geoff’s 1/48 Eduard Spitfire Story - Spitfire Mk.I build.

That's coming on very nicely Geoff. I might have to look more at the marker pens for the finer details. Looks much easier and quicker than a brush. ATB Andrew

    Joe's Airfix 1/48 Spitfire Mk1

Coming on nicely Joe!! I also spotted the step for fitting the closed canopy completely by chance - just have to make sure that I actually do it!. I also have to trim the tail place in the same way to get the rudder on! Talking about not making it easy!! :cautious: ATB Andrew

Papa695s 1/72 Airfix Spitfire PR XIX

Ian That's looking great. The top shot in particular shows a nice tonal variation! ATB Andrew

    Pauls Spitfire XIVc...... Academy 1/72

That's coming fine! As the others have said, I wouldn't worry too much about the shade of green. ATB Andrew

Tonys Italeri 1/48 Spitfire mk XVI

Looking good Tony. Will have to try that 'two stage' priming trick for yellow leading edges in the future. Doing a lighter just for the yellow and them masking the yellow off ahead of the black primer seems like a good idea......I normally leave them until the end and then of course have to...

    Ian M's Seafire fr46/47. Airfix 1/48.

That's coming on nicely Ian!! As for those extra bits that have to go on, I'm always surprised by just how many there are when you break them down into their constituent parts. Keep up the good work. ATB Andrew
