Coming back to Model Shed mentioned in Tim's posts and mine, they placed a very good Italeri Bugatti 35B build on YouTube demonstrating the use of various washes etc. I would imagine there are some other YouTube videos of theirs still up featuring other modelling subjects too. Well then...

How do we manage to lose large parts ?

I gave up on searching for my Bugatti seat so I replaced it with scratch built items from wood and using black glove leather. It wasn't all that difficult as it happens, and in 1/12th scale the very thin glove leather looks spot on and to scale.

Thanks for coming back about the GT 40 kits Stefee.

    1/12 1966 Ford GT 40

Please put me wise! Are there just 2 different 1/12th scale kits of this car that were originated by Trumpeter and Meng? So which ones are the re pops of them under different brand names? And most importantly, which original is the more accurate? The Trumpeter or Meng version.

Didn't know that Cricket St. Thomas was Blobbyland before it was a zoo. Since Warners took over the site and redeveloped it with the hotel extension behind the old manor I would guess that the zoo has also now gone ? I do however remember the front of the old manor house being used when the...

I think Mann's Model Moments had a smallish stand at Telford last year from what I can remember and I seem to remember seeing a YouTube analysis by them of the costs of trading there. Besides the two shops you already mentioned, there is another named Model Shed I think in a small industrial...

Yes I agree about Yeovil. The Quedam looked a bit dead, as well as the High Street, and that was a bit before covid last time I was there. At the time I was more preoccupied with solicitors, funeral arrangements, registrar's office etc. There used to be a nice model shop named Model Kits in...

Had a look at your video Tim. Bit of a small world mate ! Back in the early 70's my in laws moved to Stalbridge and spent many a time visiting. There was a small plant nursery off to the left of the road going down past the end of the estate they lived on. I think the road went down to where a...

Iinteresting to see what your band plays Tim. Way, way back in the 60's I used to play drums in a rock/blues group. Back then the Rolling Stones started to influence the British pop scene by promoting black American blues music from many of the greats of that genre. We had some of our own great...

Colin M's Matchbox Mercedes SSKL 1:32

The photos came up very small on my tablet, but from what I could see the potential of those little 1/32nd scale kits has been fully realised in this particular model build.

Jim's Pop Larkin's truck - Pete's wheeled cargo movers GB

Nice model and character figure. Didn't Pa Larkin have a Rolls Royce in the series too ?

    Workbench, show us yours

Some really smart looking modelling areas/rooms shown on here. Before I retired, I converted the back half of my garage into a dedicated model making workshop. As I have some machines like a lathe and milling machine it needed an out of house location. The garage was being used as a junk hole...

I think you must be just about getting to like Skylines then Kacit ? Lol.

    Brian's Sovereign of the seas

The scorched edges are par for the course with laser cutting thin wood unfortunately. Conventional CNC machining would in this case need to use a router. But even a small rotary bit would leave quite large tabs at all the cut out points that would necessitate quite a lot of filing down and...

    Another R32 Gtr

A very nice model build. When I saw R32 in the title of your post Kacit, I must admit I thought it would be a VW Golf when I opened it to read it !

    Brian's Sovereign of the seas

I would imagine that your WIP seems faster on this SOS model because of the various techniques picked up and honed during your Victory build have been carried over. This model has the makings of being a real beauty when finished. A little while ago I was looking at the Airfix plastic kits of...

    Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

As long as you are happy with what the auction raised, the pleasure you got out of building it and that the recipient really appreciates his newly acquired model is all that matters at the end of the day. It's a bit of a coincidence that the buyer lives in Portsmouth, home of the full size HMS...

We do have quite a bit of common ground Tim. I reckon you would be a good guy to have a chat with over a pint.or two ! Fully agree about what you said about the Tech Bros. There is a bit of a paradox with those narcissists compared with old moneyed people. Extremely wealthy people from...

    Found in my garden

I wish Gern. The thing is still missing having turned my workshop and study inside out today, so I bit the bullet and started scratch building another, this time with real thin glove leather.
