Started building Sheri's Saturn V years ago. Bought this from Red Arrow Hobbies. Definitely some manufacturer issues involved necessitating scratch building parts and using different manufacturers to replace less than stellar parts. Using drawings from David Weeks have given me the ability to create more detail than the original version came with. I've also been building much of this in a Starbucks as well. IMG_0003 (5).JPG

Three out of four fin shrouds were noticeably warped. I used a tube of a similar diameter as a mandrel and a heat gun to try and remove the defects but some warping was still evident. I chose instead to scratch build these four units.

Hang on … 1:48 scale?! Will you need to cut a hole in your ceiling to be able to display it? :)

It will make it with inches to spare. BTW, this is designed to fly.

I simply cut out four of these using a supplied pattern from a tube I had to buy.

Then using a pin to mark the upper stringer locations and tape to join the lower and upper marks I drew connecting lines.

You can see the lip inside the retainer which the shoulder of the engine casing end closure butts up against.

And the screw on retainer trapping the engine from moving in either direction.
