On the 30th of may the 'World in Miniature' model show/competition took place in my hometown of Kranj in Slovenia.

It's quite tiny compared to international standards, but serves as a meeting point for the community here and as an exhibition of what we do to anyone interested. The interest in the hobby has been waning over the years and I feel like events like these are crucial to keep interest.

I entered the FW-190 that I posted here in september of last year which nabbed me silver in the 1/48 propeller aircraft category. But considering there were only three planes in that category that may not be as impressive as it sounds. :D

Anyway enough talking, some pictures (in no particular order).

There was also an exhibition of lego, some die-cast cars and a train diorama.

This Voisin III in 1/48th is completely scratch built! It's the first one made, but the builder Sašo Krašovec made resin copies and is making at least 4 more. Naturally this was the plane that won gold in 'my' category.

Here's more pictures of the build process.

Kranj is a nice town, but a bit quiet for me. I didn't know about this show, is it an annual event? I visit Ljubljana often for work (I have been twice this year) and really like the place but there are not many model shops around - I only know of two and they are not as well stocked as one would wish.

It is an annual event. I'm not sure exactly when it started, but my best guess is 2011.

There's an annual event in Ljubljana as well which is very similar to SVM. It's usually in November, but nothing has been announced for this year yet. The final event I can think of off the top of my head is in Celje which is normally in October. There have been other similar events organised as well, some for several years, but there simply isn't enough of a community to warrant it.
