I thought I would share some photos of my recently completed 1/48 scale Academy F4F-4 Wildcat. As usual for my models it is hand painted using a combination of Vallejo and AK acrylic paint, wash and varnishes. This is a very nice kit with good detail and good fit, (being a new molding), and includes PE parts for the seat and harness, as well as masks for the canopy and wheels. There is a lot of detail in the cockpit, u/c bays and engine, 80% of which is not really visible in the finished model unfortunately - an option to build the cowl open would therefore have been nice. The only thing a bit lacking I feel are the painting instructions, which are a bit vague in places. For example, a couple of the colour options show a darker rudder, but no colour is given for this in the callouts, and for some detail parts (pitot tube etc) no colour suggestions are give at all. This is not too much of a problem though as there are plenty of references to be found on line. But overall a really nice model.
