discussion advice on using acrylic paint in a airbrush

Hi All

First of all many thanks for the advice I have recieved so far with my previous questions, all have been a great help.

I am happy thinning down enamel paint but have not tried acrylic, I have heard you can use water but I am not sure thats right, any help as usual would be of great value

Kelvgood, Go for the thinner recommended for the make of paint as a start point. I use Tamiya as much as I can and use their thinner. Keep the questions coming, thats what the Forums for - lots of knowledge out there. Good luck Derek

I use Tamiya constantly for airbrushing. It's really hit and miss about what thinners to use but it's true when people say keep with the same maufacturer. I used some relatively unknown acrylic thinners with my Tamiya paints and the stuff started bubbling practically. So i use Tamiya thinners and the stuff is fantastic. However, i have used water and that too works pretty well but make sure the paint and the water are well mixed or the paint can come out in sploges. Too much water and you get a chronic spider effect. So practice on some paper first.

Hi i use tamiya acryllic paint as well as the tamiya thinners i mix my paint and thinner in a 50 50 mix of paint and thinner this is how i find i get my best results as it goes on smooth.
