Does anyone know if the Airbus A380 has done any flight trials over the UK? The reason for asking , ive just finished spraying the bucc and was taking it to its drying point (Living room ) when i looked out of the window and saw a large 4 engined jet flying SE .I got the binocs on it and it wasnt a A340 or a 747 or one of the KC -135s. It had some sort of logo on the tail but i couldnt make it out.

Must get eyes tested. Maybe it was Aurora!!!!!It was big and it wasnt a Beluga.Def 4 engines and no lump on top.

lol, i think you would know if it was an aurora!...quite a distinctive shape!!! plus why would an aurora be flying that low?....unless you live near an airfield???

20 or so miles from Manchester airport. We have a hill about 1 1/2 miles away .If you stand on the top and look south you can see the Radio Telescope at Jodrell bank. Still cant get Channel five though.

lol.

but why would aurora land and manchester city airport?

as iv said before i live about 3 miles away from stanted airport. although we do get the occasional fighter go over (about 1 every 2 years) on their way to mildenhall apparently. last ones i saw were about 5 years ago, 2 f-15, low and fast!!!!

....not as low as the raf though :D

Pogo,

Sure you didn't see one of the big Airbus Belugas going over, they regularly fly over your way into BAE at Broughton where the A380 Wings are made and they carry Airbus parts back out to France from there...including the wings for the smaller Airbus Aircraft...they are a common sight over your way, I live in North Wales and see them coming in quite often when I drive towards Chester.

I know the A380 is scheduled for a visit to Broughton soon but cannot remember when....it will no doubt be in the local papers when it is due in, so I will keep you posted as it is big news around here.

Regards........Mark.

I fly in and out of Manchester about half a dozen times a year. It is a perfect size in so far as it has all the facilities of a big airport yet it has the convenience of a smaller one.

Plus it has a Concorde on display that I will get around to having a look at one day.

Not a beluga This had 4 Engines. Manchester in the late 70s early 80s was a great place. At the end of runway 06 was an old brick works. It was demolished and a big mound of rubble was left. Of course spotters took advantage of this and some superb pics could be had. I have some really good photos from up there.
