So I was going to upload this earlier today into the under a tenner group build, but I didn't take sprue shots or a picture of the box art and it was almost done, therefore I decided that this would be the best place for it Feel free to critique if you wish

The only problem I had with this kit was the cockpit, the glass wouldn't fit over the head of the pilot so I had to pry out the chair, cut away at the seat and the back of his legs to fit the glass over his head again, but it wasn't a BIG problem, just thought if anyone wanted to know if I had any issues with this one, there it is View attachment 97082

Can I ask what paint are you using? I have just used some Acrylic grey on a model and it didn't look like yours, also used a brush-please do not take this the wrong way, but your paint work looks thick.

Still, nice build, admire anybody that tackles wingy-things...I just cannot get along with them.

Ah yes, the paint does get a bit thick every now and then, it's humbrol enamels I use, matt kind usually, I use a brush all the time as I can't get my head round a compressor, I have acrylic also which I'm planning to try out on something soon, if you have any ideas on why it's so thick or how I can make it thinner then please tell me as I'd like to know, until then, I'll just assume I'm putting too much on at once

You could try Humbrol thinners, also try mixing more regular between coats and try maybe one thin pass and build up the layers.

You did say that you'd welcome a critique ....!

I'm totally not knocking your build as I'm always impressed by anyone's work & as someone who's only recently started building aircraft myself, here's some thoughts.

Firstly, paint. Enamels are much less forgiving than acrylics if applied too thickly. Acrylics seem to ' shrink ' to the surface as they dry, so if you continue with enamels, go for very thin coats leaving at least 12 hours between each

one.

The horizontal stabilizers aren't flush with the body & the fuselage joins are too apparent. This part is always a PITA for me & only filling & sanding, more filling & sanding etc etc sorts the problem!

A wee bit more time & care will bring enormous dividends to your builds.

I hope this post doesn't come across as overly critical. I'm just trying to be honest in order to help get better builds.

Yep, agree Patrick. It's all a learning curve Blair, I still make rubbish-just slightly better rubbish. Sometimes an easy quick build can be the one that most mistakes happen as you are not paying that much attention.

I'd give the Tiffy another go Blair, but this time try the new tool one. It's a great kit to build

Thank you very much especially for the tips with the layers of enamel paints, I have a few basic greys in acrylic, but the only way I'd be able to get acrylic would be online as my local shop does not stock them, so thank you very much
