Hello every one,
first off a very BIG thank you to JOHN ( he knows why ) well last time I posted I may have hinted at something a bit different and here it is a 1/6th scale scratch built batwing, this is a commission for my good friend in Greece, he wanted a version with a solid canopy and also a detailed cockpit section so I gave it a go. This time with my pics I have added some text so please forgive the bad typing errors or spelling. If any one has any questions about the model feel free to ask and also give me your honest comments as this always helps to improve my model making.
so here goes with the first post,

Afternoon Barrie,

What can a man say to this gigantic magnificent scratched Batwing. Your work is totally incredible and the finished product shows that. A few questions if I may. Do you have part ownership in a plastic sheet factory???. What does the finished model weigh approximately??? What glue did you use for it???

You must have a huge workspace to assemble this thing!!! I guess the last photo says it all. Utterly fantastic Sir!!!!!!!

A Huge Prost
Allen

Hi Barrie,
I have to agree with Allen, that is a masterpiece of the scratchers art. Those curves you have achieved are brilliant. The plastic bill must be enormous lol but I guess when you compare it to what we spend on kits it must work out the same give or take.

Your friend in Greece should be very happy with that. Will it be delivered/collected or sent in the post?

Hi Guys,
NO I do not have an interest in a plastic factory, YES thee quite a few sheets of plastic in the model about 12 maybe 14 I think and quite a few bottles of glue, speaking of which I use PLASTRUCT E.M.A. plastic weld cement, in liquid form. It dries very very fast but gives a great bond and is about 3 pounds a bottle the batwing took about 8 bottles. I do not have a big work shop far from it, but what I do is make many small parts mini models then bring them all together at the end to make one BIG model. As for delivery it will be collected from my local hobby shop TRANSPORT MODELS OF PRESTON who have helped with supplies and a good friendly helpful bunch of guys. then it will be shipped out to Greece, to my friend who has bought many of my large scratch builds. I do not build for profit I only build because I love building and making models that no one else has a go at. All the money I get for the models is ploughed back into the next models. Thanks for the great comments, I almost forgot about the weight its about 10 or 15 pounds I have no idea about kilos but not as heavy as you may think due to the aircraft type of construction plenty of frames then a skin layer holding it al together.

regards Barrie ( the old and as you can see bald guy )

Ooh that’s a big one Barry.:astonished:

Thank you Mick and you Fernando for your kind comments, it was a bit of a challenge and at some bits I thought what the hell am I doing but it was worth the effort at the end.
