I've taken a break from the 1/35 Cent to get this one built up and painted. I'm planning on giving it to my dad for Christmas, he drove a Mk V during national service.

The kit is from Ace, not bad but a few gaps here and there. I've just got the lower hull together so far, will add all the tiny bits later.

Here it is next to it's larger brother. :)

Very nice little kit. I have found the Shot Kal I bought back in 2010 and started building in 2011. Might have to get it finished but not built a shooty thing for ages......

The building portion is now pretty much done, other than tracks and the side armour (which will be added after the tracks are on. Hoping to get it painted tonight and varnished tomorrow ready for decals on Friday. I'm seriously running out of time on this to get it finished for Christmas.

I'm going to go fairly light on weathering as the Cent my dad drove wouldn't have been in combat and I'm sure they would of looked after the training vehicles pretty well.

I have really struggled with this scale, the parts are so tiny! Pictured below with the turret from it's 1/35 brother.

It's looking very good Bob, I hope you can get it finished in time.

Me too Ian, although I'd rather give it to the old man late than rush it and do a poor job.

Looking good Bob, think i'll have to get one in the stash :tongue-out3:

Have fun, John

Cheers John, although I wouldn't recommend this kit.

Cheers Polux. :)

I'm hoping the varnish I sprayed last night is dry so that I can add the decals later today.

I was so intent in getting this done in time for Christmas that I totally forgot to take any photos.

Basically it was just painted, varnished, decaled, varnished, weathered and matt varnished. The weathering was fairly light as this is supposed to represent the Cent my dad drove during his National Service, so it wouldn't of been too beaten up. I would assume that the mainteneace crew were also being taught, so after a day of manoeuvrers it would go to them.

Anyway, finished build thread here: http://www.scale-models.co.uk/threads/ace-centurion-mk-v-1-72.29449/
