hi i am currently building a revell lockheed sr-71a blackbird and im having a slight problem with painting it. what happens is that when i come to painting the outside of it using tamiya flat black acryllic i get a slight bubble effect underneath the paint when brushing it on, luckily i only started yesterday on the cockpit canope so its only a small area but does any1 have any hints or advice on how to overcome this as im worried it will ruin the rest if i carry on.

many thanks and goodluck modellers :grinball2:

is it a bump or a un-painted spot? un painted spots are round like a bubble but no bump more of a dish. if this is the case you need to prep your surface with a thinner first or rub down with alcohol. if this is what you have they are refferd to as fish eyes. your fingers are the cause as well as the residue from the mould relese.

Are you painting directly onto the plastic? If so I'm with jimpman120 above. Following his advice will remove any lingering mold release agents and oils from your fingertips. You may then want to consider priming your surfaces. This not only gives your paint a good surface to adhere to but also helps in showing up any construction flaws (sunken filler, seams and the like) before it's too late.
