Hi all

I need to make some scale calor gas cylinders, so wondered if any one here has one of the dumpy ones around a foot to eighteen inches high if you could post the dimensions in cm, and if possible a picture from the side and close up of the bottom and top.

Many thanks

Hi Don,I have them for my work shop but i'm not sure about the size you have given. The smallest one i have is a 7Kg bottle this is about 2 feet is this the one you need if so let me know and i will get the details and picks you need.Andy

don- are these going to be 'blazer' sized or bigger scale for your boats ?

may be interested if you decide to cast some, i have had your castings before and they're spot on !

Hi m8

I was making them 1:10th as I am making a trailer for my blazer and basing it on an off road long distance desert type thing with spares, and sleeper section, so just thought this was a must.

I hadn't planned on doing one in 1:20th for boats, but you never know.

Hi all

So with the help of Sky Raiders pictures and measurements I had a bash at making a calor gas cylinder today.

Obviously I want it as close to the real thing as possible, but in the end had to leave out the sort of fluted bits round the top of the bottom bit as I had no way of holing it in my lilling maching at that angle to cut them out.

Over all I thought it came out ok, and will look better when moulded and cast.

Tomorrow if I get any spare time I will make the gas valve which will be cast in white metal.

For some unknown reason I find this fascinating!

I've even had a look at the gas bottle in my heater (larger size) and thats a bang on job Don.

Hi all

I finished making the moulds over the weekend and cast a couple today. I have included one picture of it from different angles and one showing as it comes with the decals as well.

I opted to include both butane and propane decals pending which colour you want to paint it.

The valve for the top was a bit fiddly to cast in resin so its cast in lead free pewter and came out rather well.

Hi all

I finally got a few spare moments today so painted up a gas cylinder in butane colours to show what a finished on can look like.
