I'm new to this forum and modelling game. Personally I wouldnt think so. For camouflage it's meant to be random patterns. During war time, troops on the ground were given paint and made to paint it on themselves.

It very much depends what sort of camouflage you are referring to. The camouflage colours and patterns on WW2 aircraft, for example, were tightly regulated by all combatants. You can make your own masks for this. There are stencils available for making mottle type effects.

Depending on the scale you can always use blue tack. Put that over the areas you want protected, making sure it is pressed firm against the model and then brush your colour into the exposed areas. This not only gives you a random pattern, but also allows you to move, create your own unique design.
