discussion charging lipo batteries

now i show my lack of knoweledge, can anyone tell me if a seperate device for balancing lipo cells is required when charging same, with lipo charger ? .

no doubt it is evident that i am taking my first steps into electric rc flight, are there any good up to date books on the subject. any info or advice more than welcome

it is advised to use a balanced charger when charging these things and there are some good chargers on the market that have them built in. It also advisable to charge these in special pouches that you can buy because its not uncommon for these to go up in flames whilst being charged. Never charge them where you cant keep an eye on them and always make sure that you charge them on something that isnt flammable just incase.

thanks Andy this is what i needed to find out, according to some of the items i was reading i had the impression that a seperate unit was required to balance the cell's. So thanks agaain for clearing this up for me.
