The MiG-21F was the first in service version of the MiG-21, following on closely from the final Ye-6 prototypes. Roughly thirty were built before it was superseded by the F-13 variant
This is the blind-box F-Toys kit, which are snap-together models, all very accurate and wide-ranging. Although listed as 1/144th, this is slightly undersize, almost 1/150th, compared to my drawings and references. Nice tho'.
This particular one is modified from an East German tactical camo F-13. Markings are Mark1 and from the kit

Just for size. ('She's Actual Size but she seems much bigger to me...')

Although given the tactical number '01', this isn't meant to be the F on display in the Moscow Central Air Force Museum, just the first service -21

The book is Piotr Butowski and Jay Miller's OKB MiG.

The Ye-2 (which I've just done some more work on. Again), the Ye-4, the Olympic J-7EB, and this makes four so far
Only thirty-two to go!

I've an F7 built, OOB, which I haven't put in the GB, which is waiting on some Iraqi markings. It may be joined by another F-7, Iranian, as a sort of matched pair.
Next up is either the F-13 (which will be Indian, the first foreign user) or the Ye-2A. Or another J-7 in the August First scheme. Or something else unusual entirely, when I get the conversion set...

Because they're not in the kit, I completely forgot the U/C actuators

So, bit of rod through tube and...

This time this is definitively finished!
Maybe, just maybe, one of these MiGs will be fully complete before I post therm here. Oh, I've come all over JMW Turner again (and him with his smock just back from the cleaners...)

Just after I'd carved and painted the new aerial, it vanished off my work surface. On the floor I found another piece of strip to replace it, which would also need carving to shape and shortening. No idea, though, just where that had come from
Then I spotted the original piece, and attached it straight away.
And kept the 'new' bit for future use
