Ok having a bit of a holiday off to Cyprus for the next 10 or 12 days In the morning early flight, hope to catch a glimpse of the shacks on arrival not sure how easy it is to get in to them? Anyone know if you can visit them
WL757 was my old mans aircraft ( Brian) before he demobed in 1972
so I would like to get up close?

The last time I was in Cyprus...way back in '96 we flew into RAF Akrotiri, It was awesome to spot an old F-4 Phantom sitting as a gate guard,

Also whilst waiting for our helicopter transport on the airbase we were lucky to have a U-2 roll down the runway behind us whilst we were sitting on the wheel of a 'Wessex' grabbing the obligatory 'look what I'm doing' photos'..

Well made it here love the Wessex picture, according to the air port staff you can visit the shack’s so I will see how we get on finger‘s crossed,

Enjoy your hols @simontie. Hope you manage to get up close and personal.
Haven't seen a ShackieBird since the Cod Wars. When they managed to trash a mail pod and get the ships fuel pump bouncing across the waves!!!!! Still, they are nice aircraft.

Hi all, made it back home just, no thanks to air traffic control!!,
fruitless trip to report despite having been told I could get to see the shack’s. Wrote to the airport-still nothing back from them and made inquiries at the cop shop they suggested contacting the civil aviation at pathos as they can issue airside passes escorted, but will see about that next time we head that way
disappointing but i tried
