Hi folks,

I'm back with yet another question.

I have a nephew with learning difficulties. I know he likes armour and helos and I thought it might be nice to get hold of an easy kit for him to build - with my help.

I don't like the idea of buying the kits that you just snap together. I'd like to give him chance to do the whole modelling thing with finding parts on the sprues, cutting off and cleaning up, gluing and painting etc. On the other hand, it needs to be very easy - I can't see him having the patience or skill to do much sanding, test fitting, seam filling etc. (Or me come to think about it!).

My question is: What would be the easiest kit for him to do? I'd like something in 35/32nd scale but I'm thinking they'll be too expensive. Is there anything you'd recommend? I'm going to the Telford show (can't wait!), and it would be helpful if I had a list of possibles to look out for.

Hi Gern, I don't know much about helos but if we're talking about 1:35 armour, then I'd vote for a Tamiya kit every time. Pretty easy to make with good build quality & none of the hidden suprises that Dragon like to spring! How about something like an early Tamiya Panther? You can get one for around £12-13 from many places-Shrewsbury Models for sure & that makes a substantial yet fairly easy-to-make model. Good luck with it though Patrick

I didn't think David had anything that cheap! Let alone a kit from the big T! I'll pop in and see him soon (I work at Shrewsbury College so I could do it one lunchtime).

PS I was kinda thinkin' it'd have to be something like Tamigawa to eliminate fit problems you sometimes get from cheaper manufacturers.
