Just bought a new boat off Fleabay.

I have always fancied an Admiralty tug and would have really prefferred the twin funnel ones but the Envoys still look good to me. Nice big hull with lots of space, heavy so it is stable even in choppy water and very manoeuvrable. Didn't cost a fortune and enough scope to make it my own with weathering, detailing and bridge internals without taking on another two year project!!

Can't wait to see it.

a nice model there richard, you can tell its been made with love and care and looked after the same! im sure you will make it into even more of a beauty!

Thats...it......I am so totally jealous of the boat guys......I want saily stuff but in York we got nowhere to sail/float/ship, apart from the river Ouse...and i guess putting £500 notes worth of boat on the Ouse isnt an option. The Ouse leads to Hull and Hull leads to the North sea....bye bye boat!

RC torpedoes...imagine the look of horror from other RC sailers as one of your fish headed their way!!!!

Tiger, it's got guns. Admittedly not very big and not exactly bristling with them but it has a 12-pounder deck gun, two Oerlikons and two Colt machine guns.

Not bad for a tug.

As for working torpedo's I have seen a few articles in magazines over the years where people have made them. In fact there was one in Model Boat International only a month or two ago.

The simplest was one where the torpedo was pressurised with air and a needle sat in a valve in the back of it in the model. The servo removed the needle and the air pressure shot the torpedo out of the front of the model. This not only propelled the torpedo but left a very realistic trail of bubbles as well. I've not heard of one that actually explodes though!!

The very first radio controlled model boat did exactly that, exploding torpedoes ! Read up on Nicoli Tesla and his offer to the US Navy before the turn of the century (1893). He also was working on a "radio death ray" weapon.

but could the power of a tesla coil really be harnessed like that?

they use so much power anyway, might as well just use the power it would be using and plug the "death ray" in instead!!!!

there was something on tv this week that i missed about lightening. on the advert it had a lady standing in an iron "body cage" (cant think how to describe it) standing next to a tesla coil....now that would be scary!!!

I had a chat with the seller yesterday, very interesting chap and moving onto Steam Models so a lot to talk about.

Although he now lives about 175 miles away it turns out he used to live about a quarter of a mile away. The world is getting smaller.

I can't wait to get my hands on it now and get it on the water. The first thing will be to remove the blanked out bridge windows and add clear windows and a bit of bridge detail. The model will take on a completely new appearrance when you are able to see through the bridge. Apart from that and some gentle weathering I can't see a lot I want to do to it.

I'll see what I think of it when I get to see it in the flesh. It shouldn't be too difficult to add a few bits of detail here and there to bring it to life.

Oh and it definately needs some figures!
