Sorry, I do get excited about little things sometimes

Just bought myself an all in one printer. Went online and found a cheap Epson for £39 delivered free vai Tescos. Should be delivered next week at home while Im on holiday

Went to pay for it and turns out Ive got £18 worth of unused club card vouchers which I was able to double up to £36

So, nice new printer for £3.00

I love these stories, years ago when I went for an Xbox 360 the girl in GAME asked if I had a reward card! I had one in my wallet that I used to accumulate points with but never really took advantage of them! She swipes the card, ushers her manager over to check the till screen and then tells me I can use the card to get £94 off the xbox

The trouble with Ink Jet printers is that it is the inks that cost a fortune!

Of interest as Epson inks tend to be expensive (expensive experience). I am using JET TEC ink. Tried a lot of inks all of which I have had problems with. JET TEC tend to be more expensive but for my Brother Printer half the cost of the branded inks. Probably had in 3 years about 2 cartridges out of something like 50 as failures. Both were replaced. They also do packs of all inks much cheaper again.

Not sure where people get the idea that the ink is expensive. Epson are, IME, one of the cheapest to use.

Quite a few years back I bought a lexmark for a then bargain price of £40. When it came to replace the ink the black was £25 and the colour was £35

Im already one step ahead on the ink though. I can get replacement ink for about 3 quid a cartridge, from a shop 4 miles down the road. Although he does do mail order. This Epson has 4 cartridges so if, for example, the blue runs out I dont have to replace the yellow as well.

Epson inks are very expensive, that's a fact. Third party inks can be much cheaper but you then have to weigh that up against quality. Sometimes the colour saturation is not as good but if you know what you are doing you can to a degree compensate for that with the software but the biggest downside is usually the longevity of the inks. Most third party inks are nowhere near as long lasting as propriety inks but if you are not printing pictures to be displayed for many years then this might not be a consideration for you and you are OK with a third party ink. As with just about everything though I think you get what you pay for.

Thats a fair consideration.

Most of my prints are either draft individual summaries for my genealogy or black and white printed care plan reports
