discussion Fleet Air Arm Swordfish - Help Needed!

Hi all;


I wonder if anyone can help with a question regarding a FAA Swordfish. I have a relative who was killed in a Swordfish I of 812 Sqn FAA in July 1940; its serial was L2759, and it was in collision with another Swordfish over the Donna Nook bombing range whilst it was based at nearby RAF North Coates. I have found two photos of the actual aircraft on the net, but they show it when it was serving with 811 Sqn earlier. I want to model the aircraft in tribute to my cousin, but I think it would have been repainted when it transferred from 811 to 812, so it probably wouldn't have looked like it did in the photos.


Does anyone have any ideas as to how it might have looked at the time of the crash? Thanks in advance!

Andy if any one will help it is the Fleet Air Arm Museum.


I have been in touch twice regarding the Swordfish and the Walrus asking for their help on details.


They are a great bunch. On the Warus I asked for info on the rigging. They replied with sketches of the metal and type of material. One of the renovators of the aircraft produced the info for me. On the Swordfish in additon to my plea for info they sent photos of the Swordfish taken in action.
