This is my 1st diorama, and only my 4th model (only been modeling since August).

It's a Tamiya/Italeri Paladin M109.

Overall, for my 1st dio I'm happy. There is definitely things I want to improve on, the figues for a start are slightly rushed looking and the fact that I decided to make the diorama after I had nearly finished the Paladin itself (hence why the Paladin is fully kitted up). I also need to paint the edge of the base to finish it off, but I'm in no rush yo do that ATM.

I used this video as abit of inspiration -

- as I've never been to Iraq, and as Infantry never worked directly with Artillery guns.

Thanks everyone. As I said, a few things I'm not entirely happy with and the more I look at it, I'm going to have to use a desert wash on the Paladin as it's just standing out abit to much.

Wood, grass matting for the texture inside and dry wall/scrim tape.

I used Hescos own measurements for the ones in the video (roughly anyway) which when scaled down worked out to be 43mm x 43mm x 60mm, and managed to find lengths of wood 42mm x 42mm. Cut them to the correct length, wrapped a grass matt around, painted brownish, then wrapped dry wall tape around. Then gave another dust coating. Then covered the top in glue and dipped them into a box of fine ballast, coarse ballast and geko sand (used this across all the dio) to give the appearance of filled with sand.

Excellent HESCOs. Well done all around. A suggestion, the next time the arty would be better reversed, as can be seen in the video the blast from a 155 would make a very bad day for living things and anything loose in that corner even w/barrel elevated. PaulE

Ye, after I decided on the base I knew it was going to be alot tighter than real life. But I had to compromise as the shelf where it will sit isn't the biggest.

But I'll get around it by saying the 'story' of the dio is that the small supply area is being moved due to the new position of the gun...
