Whenever I "log on" to the forum, I see that the number of "guests" outweighs the number of "members" on line.

Any ideas to encourage guests to become members?

What are they worried about?

After all, if anyone "signs up" and then finds that the forum isn't for them it is surely quite simple to "unsubscribe", or am I "tied in" for the rest of my natural?

Hi Malcolm,

I think you'll find it's pretty much the same at whatever forums you look at, the number of guests usually outweighs the members logged on at the time.

Some people I know, myself included, like to see what a forum is about and if they like it then they will hopefully sign up....ie they are testing the water first.

Don't forget Members of the forum will also show up as guests if they haven't logged in....I sometimes have a look at the Forum to see whats going on without necessarily logging in. Obviously if I want to make any posts then I have to log in to do that.

And as for being committed for Life once you have signed up, that does not appear to be the case here, John likes to keep accurate numbers and encourage all to take part, (don't we all). So if you decide you want out, I'm sure a quick message to John will sort that out for you.

But, having said that, hopefully you will stay, it's always nice to hear different ideas from different people, especially in this Hobby.

Regards........Mark.

What Mark said :)

Also "guests" aren't always real people they might be search engine spiders, in fact as I'm typing this one of Googles spiders is also reading the thread.

But we do have a lot of real guests and I have no idea how to get them to register and post, I wish I did

I too looked in as a guest two or three times before I "signed up".

Now I seem to go straight in - i.e. I wouldn't know how to take a look as a guest.

Don't tell me, I'm happy as I am
