Just a quick one what's the best way 2 apply hairspray with a brush or with a airbrush and if it's the airbrush how do you clean it

Many thanks for your help

John

If i use hairspray i usually spray striaght out of the can but nowadays i dont have much hair :smile1:

Straight from the can for me to , one light even coat to the areas you want , 1st time I used it I was not sure it covered an gave the model 2 coats and it was hard work getting through to the base colour but a good lesson learnt , like Ian I`m not blessed in the hair department and got a very funny look from the wife when I asked her to get me a can when she was shopping.

It's used in a weathering technique and was developed by armour modellers. It's also handy for aircraft modellers doing a worn winter camo for example. Rather than me pointing you at a specific site stick 'hairspray technique' into your search engine. You'll get several results.

Honestly,I find it a lot of messing about but it can look really good when well done.

Cheers

Steve

As per steve, I tried it and found it just way too fiddly and haven't bothered since. It can look great but there are numerous other techniques for weathering. To see a how to, type hairspray paint weathering into youtube, there's one particularly impressive one with a guy doing a Tank exhaust

Fwiw, I decanted into the ab, much more control and precise spraying, cleanup was with ammonia solution, (6% ammonia/water), warm water if done IMMEDIATELY after spraying will work fine also
