Reading the whole of the Colditz story by Pat Read.

Two Dutchmen made up ropes to extend from a window to the moat. To complicated to give all detail.

The Dutchmen in the dark gently hand over hand descend but make some noise.

German Officer looks out of window & sees them.

He brandishes his revolver & shouts out to our Dutchmen.

Hande hoch (hands up).

Both Dutchmen nearly fall from the rope with laughter.

Its a good read (if you pardon the pun), Laurie. I remember reading it at primary school as it was in our library. Next up was the Wooden Horse. I must have had a thing about escaping in those days.

but it was captivating stuff.

The best read on the wooden horse, Keith, is Stolen Journey by Oliver Philpott much better than the Eric ? one.
