Hi all well since I've nearly finished the Spits and the Lanc I thought it was time to start back on the Corvette and this little beauty that I've just taken delivery of, I must say I thought the 1/6 bikes box were huge but even they pale into insignificance when compared to this beast.

That said the box could be half this size

I have taken a big chance and bought a guilding kit just for this kit (never guilded anything before)

so will I ruin this kit and waste the gold, watch this space to find out.

Thanks glad to have you all along. As I said I've never guilded before should I paint the blue first then guild over that or should I guild the part first then paint the blue over it, and if painting is first should I use gloss paint guild over that then matt coat the blue.

That is proper cool Ken and a great start one day I'm going to tackle one of these old sailing ships :)

It's huge too Alan 33 inches long if it turns out half as good as I hope it will be a keeper, even the missus says it's pretty.

I think the size might make it easier to do the rigging as the space between the masts will be bigger allowing you to get your fingers in there :)

Damn me if that's not a big ship with lots to paint.

Hi all here is a bit of an update. I have a big problem with this kit and dont know how much further I can go with it. there is supposed to be 2 sprues number 17 and 2 number 18 but there is only 1 of each, I have emailed Heller and asked for the missing sprues to be sent but have no idea what their customer service is like I'm hopeing they will send them as the kit is useless without them and I will have to bin it otherwise. so will do what I can and hope they will send the parts sooner rather than later.

The guilding is superb .......... and this will be a first class job ...............

I hope you get the missing parts ......... Have you heard from Heller ?????

this is looking so good ,do love the guilding looks superb, ;)

I do think that the plarks do need a wash to pickup thhe detail, but it will dull it,

but you can pickup the high lite again, with a dry brush of gold, thats what i think, ;)

with an aged gold or even a brass just to sit in the low spots,

Thanks not heard from heller yet, email twice and just got the automated we've received your email and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. Really struggling with the instructions, I would suggest anyone contemplating this kit should learn French first.
