Hi Ive just joined, I'm into rc tanks wondered if anyone else is.

We have a couple who are into the 1/16th Tamiya R/C Tanks. Give TigerTC a shout, he of course has a Tiger tank!

Yes we have a few Tankies on here, myself included. You will find quite a few useful pics in the Automobiles section of the Forum. Please feel free to add pics of yours too.

"A Tiger tank" hmmmph.

My ever expanding collection now includes-

2 x 1/16 tamiya Full Option King tigers

1 x " " " " Tiger 1

1 x " " " " Sherman

1 x 1/15 Bandai R/c Tiger 1

And for Christmas the wife better have got me Tamiyas new 1/16 Panther or I will be trading her in for a new one!

*Wonders if Bunkerbarge needs a husband!

4 Tigers to 1 Sherman, sounds like the ratio is in favour of the Panzers a little though!

The Sherman was the F1 car of its peers, Just as in WW2 the method is the same in model tank battling....shoot...run....shoot ....run.

So far the Sherman has only fought with two of the tigers using Tamiyas battle system and still wins 2 out of three times.

I thought you needed about 7 Shermans to sucesfully take out a Tiger...by the time the Tiger has taken out the first 6 the 7th one is close enough to fire a fatal shot at the Tiger at close range without the shell bouncing off.

That's if the Tiger hasn't broken down and the crew have abandoned it in the meantime!

How many miles on the clock?

Ever been raced?

Is she built for comfort or speed?

I have enough trouble keeping the one I've got running. I keep threatening to trade her in but I just can't bring myself to get rid of an old classic!!!

This is true.

I am asuming that in reality Sherman tactics didnt get time to evolve, or never realised that its speed was a major advantage at close quarters.

It is well documented that at distance Shermans do not stand a chance against either Tiger 1 or 2...and the panther for that matter. I am led to believe it was only the introduction of the Pershing that battle commenced on an equal footing in lethal firepower.

Having only battled in my back garden so far, I havent had the chance to test out the results of a distance dependant battle.

1. Been round the clock a few times

2. Not so much raced, more thrown around the track a bit

3. Slowly getting more comfy as the years go by.
