Computers are strange beasts. While we are on computer issues, does anyone know how to desensitise a touch pad on a Samsung laptop? It drives me crazy, I'll be typing away and even if a hair touches the pad my cursor shoots off in a random direction and I start typing into space only to look up and half of what I typed is not there.

Windows mouse / touch pad settings are found in control panel.

There should be a setting you can adjust for sensitivity.

With the laptop being Samsung there may be a separate "bespoke" software that offers adjustment.

What windows version are you running and what's the model of laptop? I could go deeper into it.

Thanks Colin. I have tried the control panel option to no avail.

The laptop is a Samsung NP-QX412-S01NZ. 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. All up to date.

If you can solve this you will be a legend, I've tried various things since I got it and nothing solves the annoying problem. If all else fails is it possible to 'disable' the pad with a cover of some sort? I guess they work the same way as a touch screen using static?

OK Joe, here goes :-) :-)

Windows 7 sometimes doesn't have specific touchpad settings for certain brands of laptop and just gives the standard mouse adjustment, so go to Samsung support page of their website and load the specific mouse pad drivers for your laptop model.

This should then give you the adjustment options in control panel / mouse settings.

I'll try and find a specific mouse pad driver. I thought I had all the drivers but I'll have a look anyway.

Thanks Colin, I have downloaded and installed it, now trying to locate the adjustment thing.

Found it, applied some changes so it needs two fingers to move the cursor or pointer so that should disable the sensitivity issues. Thanks Colin! Have a legend award :)
