the middle antenna has the end missing off it. the antenna off the tail is not there (although i think that might be only on the longbow version) erm, the sun looks way too big lol. and the pilot looks dead and there is no gunner?

any of them right?

Ok, you got me.. I have been staring at it for a while. All the pieces look like they are there and in the right spots.

Howdy Mark,

Ok, the front seat of the Apache is the Weapons systems Operator, and, the chain gun is "linked to his helmet"....meaning that where ever his "head" looks, the gun follows. The gunner is looking down, but the gun is angled up. And that is the problem with the photo.

Have a good day,

Greg

I am probably wrong, but i thought the chain gun was tied into the pilot?

Psssssst Bob.....that was just the best sounding "guess" I could come up with lol. And it was one that had not been mentioned as of yet.

Yeesh.. you know how to mess with a guy. I am almost obsessive compulsive in trying to figure out these quizes you all put out there. Talk about messing with me!!! Hehe. And yes, I am still starring at this trying to figure it out. LOL.

Some good answers coming out here and Greg has certainly got the bit about the front mounted gun right, being linked to where-ever the Gunner looks.

Look hard and close at the picture and you will see that there is neither a Gunner or Pilot on Board....The Pilot is Obviously missing as pointed out earlier...but look at the gunners head...yes there is a helmet but no head in it otherwise his face would be visible at the front....usually with a flight mask too....which is missing in the pic.

This is more obvious when you enlarge the picture.

Remote Piloted Aircraft anyone..??...and yes they do exist as full size too.

Regards..........Mark.

Hello.

This is my first post so be gentle!

The gun on the Apache does not always follow the CPG (Co pilot gunner) it can be turned off at any time and is switched off automatically when the aircraft lands, this is VV important as when a member of the groundcrew is anyway near the nose the gun is more than capable of breaking his legs should the CPG should happen to look his way. If the CPG should happen to look down whilst on the deck the gun is powerfull enough to tip the aircraft.

When we first got the Apache in the UK we had to disconnect the power to the gun as it was deemed to be to aggressive. Dont worry though we re-connected it in Afghanistan and the Taliban love it.

Oh and aircrew only wear face masks in an NBC environment.

Right on POLARBEAR.

My guess is it's the antenna mounted on top of the rotorhead. The only Apaches that didn't have this were prototypes I think. (Not the longbow football looking thing, I mean an actual stick on top of the rotor head).
