I only came back to this hobby about 12 - 18 months ago and during this time have been on here and have seen some of the great builds you guys are knocking out. I also notice that for WWII aircraft you seem to be able to locate pictures of actual aircraft to get the camo pattern, bomb loads, whatever, just right.

How do you manage to find these?

I am planning a small two fighter plane dio and have a specific camo scheme for one of them in my head but I don't know if it would have fought in that theatre in the camo scheme I'm thinking of.

Any tips on how to find out or any decent websites that have good information on this kind of thing?

Thanks

Drew

There's quite a lot of stuff on the internet, finding it can be fun. I usually search by aircraft type and then put in things like codes,serial/werk numbers and see what turns up.

Depending on the subject there are some very knowledgeable people on various forums who are willing to help if someone here can't. Most are reasonably friendly and those that aren't don't know where you live :)

I've built quite an extensive library of reference books over the years, particularly but by no means exclusively,Luftwaffe related. I'm as interested in the history in a broad as well as specific sense as I am the models. I'm always happy to have a look for stuff on anyone's behalf and pass on anything that might be useful as indeed are many others.

Cheers

Thanks Steve.

I've found a couple of sites with a load of links on them. I'll have a browse through them and see what I can come up with. Failing that I'll put out a call on here.

It's nothing urgent anyway, just forward planning for one of the future SIGs.
