I have a model of the HMS Victory to build the question is do I do it yellow as all previous incarnations or the light terracotta which it now has

Regards

Colin

Oooo a veritable mine field in short as I understand it could be either.

Captains were responsible for the colour of there ship beyond the black pitch and white between the gun ports as it was supplied from the builder, so it depended on the Captains pocket and what colours he used so depending on who was captain at any particular time the colour could be anything.

Give it fifty years or so and they will probably say oh yes it was yellow

It's up to you and your beliefs

I personally like the yellow but I do think that would have been a very expensive pigment to have 200 years ago

Roger PS just my thoughts but I'm convinced they now have the red gun Ports far too bright it would have been a dark red just my opinion

Probably dark ........and a bit gunpowder stained Roger.

I say yellow, give ten years and some brainless historian will say it was sky blue with pink spots.
