discussion Jerry cans , drum containers ?

If you were using one of these for water would they be painted a different colour or would they just be marked for water ?

I read somewhere they were painted with a white Cross if they carried water, so that's what I did on one of my APC's... Sounds feasible, looks OK

*edit* Just looked and it was on "Olive - drab. Com"

The early cans were painted with white cross, German cans just had 'wasser' written on them.

The later plastic cans have a triple bar handle for fuel and a single bar handle for water.
