im just interested to know if there are any parents that build models with their kids, or for their kids.whats it like? do they show interest or loose interest easily?. i have a little boy ronnie... and im going to be building planes for his room and i hope as he grows he shares the same interest. im looking forward to the day when hes old enough to build things himself and i can help him..take him to air shows..get his first RC plane. e.t.c. but then sometimes i think..what if he doesnt like things like that at all..then im in trouble.:lol

kids are kids. i dont have my own but im an uncle to 3. my mate is a fellow professional guitarist and has two lads and a few years back his band were playing at an open air festival with Status Quo. After the show he asked them if they enjoyed it and they were, 'errr we didint see it'..turns out they were playing with Rick Parfitts kids! Another story, another mate..he was the bassist for the late Robin Gibb. He was playing at the NEC when his 5 year old daughter wandered onto the stage to see her Dad. The band stopped playing and Gibb went over to her accompanied by the various ooohs and aahs of the audience. Wayne was talking to her and Gibb gave her the mic into which she said, "Daddy can we go home? Its boring".

some of the stuff I've made will be making its way into the grandsons bedroom (so I've been reliably informed)

my own kids (who have now grown up) didn't really have the modeling interest. the girls liked girls stuff and the boys were more at home accompanying me on my wildlife photo shoots, reptile research, shooting/fishing and any paeleontology digs I went on.

the boys used to have a game of dungeons and dragons with me and my mates occasionally and they painted their own figures. lego and meccano played a big part in their childhood as it did mine.

awww. connors work is exellent! thats so sweet. omg that story is funny with robin gibb! kids can be so embarrassing! but its true, i took my daughter to the clacton air show and she had 0 interest..all she did was moan because she wanted to go and by a bucket and spade. i couldnt believe it! it ruined my enjoyment of the show.:lol and i too love reptiles. i have a red tail boa. nice stories guys.

I have two daughters who never showed any interest in model making. Now grown up,they think my hobby is a fairly harmless vice. They'll pop into my "workshop" to see what I'm building but that's about it.

I managed to home a couple of models with a nephew who remembers when he used to build kits as a lad. He rather flatteringly,if inaccurately,considers them "works of art". He'll be having a few more if I have my way.

At Duxford recently,during the flying,a couple of boys were running around showing no interest in the show and practicing their Kung Fu complete with Bruce Lee sound track.This caused some audible grumbling from some of the older fellas watching the show. Didn't bother me,the lads might not have been watching the aeroplanes but they looked like they were having a great afternoon! It's not like we were at a classical concert or an opera for heaven's sake

I have two sons Andrew 18 who as cerebral palsy will sit in his chair and watch me all day if he could, he holds the instuctions for me and tells me where to put the decals in his own sweet way. And Matthew 14 not bothered at all and calls me a nerd

YOUR KIDS TALK TO YOU...LOL,i make a few models for my grandson ok,ok quite a lot then hang them from his ceiling takes me back...sigh.

My 3 year old daughter loves watching me model, she likes to help but cant really do a lot at the moment
