discussion Klear not drying..........

Slightly apprehensive as gave my Opel Blitz and A6M a final coat of Klear on Sunday, yet today it is still tacky to the touch. Normally it's dry to the touch within an hour, and completely dry within 24 hours...........anyone else had this problem with Klear? I sure hope I haven't wasted the last 7 months on these two models to mess up on the final stages.....................:lala:

I've never had that happen with the "old" Klear. Is it the new version that you are using?

Hi Steve, no it's the old version, the same one I've used for a few years. I'm wondering if it's because it's in a Tupperware box with the lid on, and the muggy temperatures...........I really hope it bloody dries.

That is weird. I cover my models whilst drying but I prop the cover up to allow air to get in (and out) at the risk of the odd speck of dust. I'm still using a bottle of Klear which is several years old so I don't think that it goes off in any way.

I Kleared a model yesterday,after decalling,and it dried normally so I doubt it's the weather.

Let's hope yours will dry given a bit more time.

Cheers, Steve. It's a little drier now, but damn, it's taking a long time....at least it does seem to be drying anyway

Alex I wonder if the base coat below the Klear was dry. From another article you say that it is hot down near Cognac. I read somewhere that heat is not a great idea for curing paint. Gives an immediate drying action but slows the curing.

Just a thought.

It's possible Laurie, although each coat had many hours to dry in between and were perfectly dry before this last coat. I've never had this happen using Klear before, so must be a one-off. It seems to be drying now anyway. I'm in no rush so will leave it for a few more days.
