Hi all, got a couple of questions ref the Lancaster I'm building.

Firstly, the instructions call for the area on top of the fuselage under the canopy to be black, but I' m fairly sure it should be green. Am I correct, and if so, should it be the interior green or camo green???

And secondly, the top of the port inner engine is shown in brown, although the camo colour at that point on the wing is green - is this correct???

Any help gratefully received, and thanks in advance.

Cheers, Neil

The area under the canopy I do in the camouflage green (Dark Green). I can't remember my reference for this, but I'm sure that I would have investigated this before I painted it. I'm at work (meaning away from home) but I'll see what's on this computer.

Yes, the top of the port inner engine should be Dark Earth (brown).

Cheers

Steve

Edit: The guys who restored the Canadian Lancaster reported Camouflage green paint in this area. That may have been one of my sources.

Your correct on the colour of camo because I remember a programme on BOB Lancaster PA474 when they did a first strip down I believe it was late 60s and although the film was partly in black and white it showed the inner engines dark earth and the cockpit was in a dark green ( I would have even said a bronze dull green ( not the typical interior that most kits ask for.

I have still yet to add my Battle of Britain Pa474 Lancaster to my Battle of Britain collection but it's been nearly a year since I first started it and the gifts only changed the markings to ( I think mickey the mooch ( I'll have ti re check that. Also I have to re finish PR spitfire MK19 as the u/c leg struts broke and I have white metal ones somewhere.

On the colour of the top of the Port Inboard engine, my Revell Lanc. (Dambusters) was painted in brown (Dark Earth I think), following the kit instructions (although I guess it would have been better camo if the green of the wing had been partly carried over on the engine):
