Hi everyone, reckon this could be the place to get some flying advice but apologies if I've chosen the wrong section. I am a regular model boat user and in the process of changing some of my 40 meg stuff for 2.4,Ghz, this will give me the opportunity to have a shot at a model rc glider.  Yep I would certainly join a local flying club, but just wondered if I could get any recommendation on suitable beginner models to build.  Many thanks for any help.

Hi Ian, had to stop R/C flying some years ago due to disability. Your best bet is to visit a model flying club and get first hand advice, you may find power flying appeals to you.


Most glider guiders tend to fly off moorland to get the height and breeze, if your close by moorland it's a good start. Best of luck, John.

Agree with John, completely! A club will take you under their wing, and soon have you flying solo. If you're anywhere with decent hills, slope-soaring looks really appealing, especially as there is a lot of scope for styles of plane! Flying RC is brilliant, and I do miss it.

Thank you John and John for your replies.  Actually I live in the Vale Of York area....very flat but quite windy at times.  I have noticed some folk flying rc gliders in a field not too far away from where I live,  so maybe I should have a chat with them next time they appear.
