discussion Liquid Mask, Maskol and Stuff ???

I'm going to have to mask the canopies on some 1/700 scale aircraft when I get onto my USS Hornet ......... So I figured a liquid mask might be best. I've never used the stuff so I have a couple of questions ??? ........ As I'll be doing a small scale which is the best stuff to use for precision work ??? ......... and once you've done painting, how do you get the mask off ???

I'd use a tooth pick if I could Peter you would usually use a brush but I don't think you can get one small enough


To get it off after you just rub it off with your finger

Use this for sealing bits going around corners where tape will not etc.


For me I would not use it on canopies as I have found it difficult to get a good crisp line.It also goes off very quickly so no second chances.


If you use it make sure the cap is replaced with out delay as the fine tube will clog up.

Using maskol is a challenge , get it wrong and when you rub it off you can take paint off as well


I don't envy you using it on a 1/700 aircraft

I think that might be the answer Laurie, thanks ........... I've ordered some ........ I'm not looking to do the frame lines. The aircraft are way too small to that. The Bombers are about the size of a 10p piece, and the Fighters are even smaller. I just want to mask the whole canopy of the Fighters and the canopy, noses and mid turret on the Bombers ...... If I can ??? I can only give it a go...... They are moulded in a sort of opaque clear so if I can mask up before painting them that will be a result.

My god it's bad enough putting decals on a 1/350 aeroplane
