hello all

just a little thing if you have kids and i mean little ones. no matter what you do with your models the best thing to do is put them way up high. this is becase i put my wonderful P 38 in my glass cabinet and my bro pulled it apart. i got so mad

what and why do they go for so presious things e.g my models

Char, animals and children do not go well with models, one of my Siamese cats once made a bed in a box of my models rustling amongst the nice warm pop wrap, children just do not realise how fragile these things are and are attracted by the colours,so keep everything in cabinets away from prying fingers and curiosity.Sorry to hear about the damage, any chance of repairing the model ?

My father once returned from a trip to sea with a completed model of the Victory, fully rigged. How on earth he got it home in one piece I have no idea but it sat on a window sill and slowly had bits knocked off it until he got fed up of repairing it and threw it away.

I always felt very sad that he had put so much into it and then it ended up in the bin. We didn't have any such things as glass cabinets in those days so it had to take its chance with two very small boys and my mothers duster.

Never had a chance really!

We all need to develop our creative talents somehow.

Obviously you were just trying to express yourself!!

Bonfire night was always the time my models had to hide. We had such fun as kids using bangers to blow them up. This all came to a head with my dads model of the USS Constitution (Ithink it was the constitution)

Which went in the bath with its hull full of bangers and a couple of my dads shotgun shells for good luck.

Both me and my brother got a good hiding for that (Ithink i still have the welt marks!) and deservedly so. I think we got the hiding more for the shotgun shells, which with hindsight and old age makes me think -good job they never went off. (the ship did catch fire though, and sank with a realism appropriate for a nine year old).

I used to have models all around my bedroom and hanging from the ceiling and can still remember coming home from school only for my mum to tell me my spitfire had crashed....I said, "what do you mean it has crashed..??"...she said, "I knocked it off the window sill with my feather duster"...out with the glue again lol !!!

Regards......Mark.

I used to flash my torch at them in bed at night and pretend it was an air raid.

Now you're getting to much information!!!
