Having some trouble and would appreciate any help I could get. I am looking to get rc kits for F4U Corsairs, Supermarine Seafires (or Spitfires), TBF Avengers and Fairey Barracudas all in 1/7 scale. I would settle for F4F Wildcats and Fairy Swordfish or Albacores in 1/7 scale, but prefer the others. It would be great if the Corsair, Avenger and Wildcat kits came supplied with Fleet Air Arm markings but anything would do. I will need about 40 kits altogether so I would prefer them in fiberglass or anything considered fastbuild, balsa kits, though nice, just won't do.

Topflite sells a roughly 1/6th scale corsair - it's a balsa frame. I'm not sure if you'll be able to buy those models as fibreglass kits in 1/7th and it might be worth making your own moulds and producing your own. Also the decals can easily be reproduced on computer and printed at a local print shop and shouldn't be much of a problem.

Corsair

Spitfire

Also try www.giantscaleplanes.com they have a nice looking Hellcat

Iv'e seen the topflite Corsair and have considered the possibility of using the balsa fuselage to make plugs for molds. Raidentech also sells an fiberglass CMP Corsair kit but its dimensions are a little off, 5 inches short on the fuselage and 5 inches too wide in the wingspan it turns out to be somewhere around 1/7.6 scale. If I need to do so I will make the molds myself, but I would like to make sure I have no other options before I commit to doing so.

I have thought of printing up decals, but on second thought it might look better to just paint on the markings.

Well, I cant recall a 1;7 Barracudas or Albecore... BUT Your in luck with the Stringbag!!!!

Dont know of any off the peg/prebuilts... but, the Plans for the Swordfish were Published in the Jan/Feb Issue of "Rc Scale International" 2002... Which you can still get on back order. Its a 72" Scratchbuild , but Once you have a master you can get a few moulding taken and get some copys run off to speed build a deckpark of stringbags.

There! Even the Drunken, Bearded ale-swigging dino-model maker can provide a few gems of wisdom ...
