I believe that the company Rea Towing Co Ltd operated on the Mersey and represented William Cory & Son Ltd. All their tugs had names ending in Garth, ie in 1969 they had one named Brackengarth. No nearer to giving definitive answer, but at least we got an owner somewhere along the line.
