So, I'm in the middle of building the 1/35 Tamiya M3A2 just now and it's going great, the pieces are just falling together!

I really didn't think I'd enjoy this build so much as WWII armour isn't really my thing (or so I thought).

Anyway, as the M3A2 didn't seem to be in use during WWII I need to convert to M3A1 but to do this I have to potentially destroy two parts of the kit.

The sides of the back cabin (don't know the actual term for it but you can see the part I mean) have ladders on them but the M3A1 didn't so I have to either attempt to remove them or find some after market replacement parts.

Personally I'd rather buy the replacement parts so I'm wondering if anyone here knows if these are available and if so, where can I get hold of them?

What about carefully filing it down till it is gone then use very find grade sand paper to remove the scratches?

I think that's going to have to be the way I go Scott.

As a stroke of coincidence, I bought some 2500 grade sandpaper yesterday (the finest I could get).

I'll have another look at it tonight and see if I have the courage to go for it. I just don't want to gouge out the side or remove any rivets.

I suppose if the worst were to happen I could cover with stowage or claim "battle damage" lol.

Don't be worried about it just take your time and go slow, try putting the flat side of your clippers to the main plate and carefully cut along sand down and add a little filler if needed. If you need to replace rivets then get some very fine round plastic dowel and trim the end off and there is your rivets.
