Hi all .
Arrived after a easy journey from Stamford to the Show. Having sent a text to both Mike C and Peter ( Stillp ) I ventured in a had a general wonder around
A large hall filled with branches of M.A.F.V.A. Tables and many traders.
The normal piles of kits for sale , I was tempted but on the stall selling Thunder Models the new Russian version of the Caterpillar was not in site, my wallet stayed safe. :smiling3:, the other Thunder model kits were there and at a good price of £ 40 odd.

Right some photos of the hall with some of the model on show and traders.
The competition models were up stairs, those later.

Now for some models. there were a lot of 1/72 and smaller on display, along with the 1/35 and larger scales. I will have to load these up in several batches.

Seeing these up close, the workmanship and detail is brilliant.

This one reminded me of the model by Andy Belsey of I think his uncles.

One for Dave Ward here.

Now this one had the up gunned turret next to it, the owner very kindly changed over the turrets

IMG_5321.JPG

Said he'd built that many he had a spare turret so decided to have two versions, seemed a good idea.

The birth of the bren gun carrier.
More later.

Unlike John Race, I had a rather tricky journey from Rugby - Saint Ives is usually a straight run along the A14, dual carriageway almost all the way, but the A14 was closed at Huntingdon. I followed the 'official'diversion, which took me to the outskirts of Peterborough then down the A1M, so added 20+ miles and a half hour to the trip. Still, it was good to meet up with JR, Mick the bridgelayer master + Yvonne, Pete Low, Andy. All I wanted to buy was a pot of Tamiya XF4 for the Vampire tail, but there was nobody selling Tamiya paints. I did buy a base from Frome Model Centre, to be used in future RFIs. Here's a few photos I took:

One of the stars of the show was Mick's bridgelayer, which looks even better in the flesh than in his build photos.
P1040333.JPGP1040334.JPGP1040336.JPGP1040337.JPGP1040339.JPG
But there were many other fine models.
P1040340.JPGP1040341.JPGP1040342.JPGP1040343.JPG
Another show-stopper was Tim's Italy - Liberation 1944 dio.
P1040344.JPGP1040345.JPGP1040346.JPG
But there were lots that I thought worth a photo.
P1040347.JPGP1040348.JPG
Including Pete's Toons.

Only allowed to upload 20, so I'll add some more later.
Pete

I was well impressed by this D-Day dio:

Interesting show, and good to meet with some other members of the Rabble. Catering was **** though - I waited 45 minutes for a cheese sandwich. After being told "Yours is up next", "I've just buttered it", "It'll be 2 seconds", and "It'll be one second" over the space of 15 minutes, I'm ashamed to say I grabbed the next cheese & pickle sandwich that came out of the kitchen. My apologies to whoever's it was. Definitely the worst aspect of the show.

Cheers
Pete

Seeing these by Pete and Mikes in the flesh was fantastic, photos are ok but seeing them in the real is something else.

A great day, like most shows meeting up with guys from the forum is possibly the best part, esp when your phone rings and you answer only to find that Peter standing behind you as the others who had seen him laughed.:smiling2::smiling2:
We didn't unfortunately see Tim , who build Peter posted earlier, he was some where around, may be the others caught up with him later.

Great day and great company.
John.

Looks like you had a good day, some fantastic models on show. Hopefully there'll be something like that up my end of the world so I can have a proper look at other peoples work.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's this? I really like the look of it and would like to build one if a kit is available.

Told my daughter what I'd been doing today, and she feigned horror, and said "Meeting people you've only known from a forum? I hope you told someone where you were going, who you were meeting, and what time you'd be back." She has two kids...

I believe that's a Whippet tank Andy, with German markings. I know they captured a couple.

No doubt she had heard I was going, :smiling:

Wow that looked like fun!! Thanks for posting. I will have to assume there weren't any modelers present that were dabbling in 1-87 scale? Cheers, Rick H.

Ah, that's what confused me. I've been looking at Whippets, and that looked very similar, just the marking threw me. Thanks.

It's a whippet captured and used by the Germans in WW1 - Ignorance is when you do not ask, but assume you know the answer.
Mike.

Many thanks to you all for posting the photos, it certainly looked a good show it;s a shame it's so far from Devon.
regards Jim

Well done mate. Many thanks for posting. The quality of the builds looks really high. Great to see you were able to meet up with the other guys.
