Hi Mick...What capacity are you after and what space do you have to fit one, and what type of hull is it going in ???.

There are quite a few ways of doing this, but it all depends on the size and space available etc etc .

Hi Mick, sorry not been back in touch sooner.

You will need to establish what the above water weight of your boat will be as this will determine what size / capacity of tank you will need.

( you only need to get the above water hull under water so the tank needs to be large enough to have the capacity of the weight of the above water hull, 1 kg of weight = 1 ltr of fresh water + a little bit extra to account for different water temps and density).

Now you will have to think about the method of filling / emptying the tank.

An easy way is to use a car tyre compressor to effectively suck the air out of the tank and store it under pressure in either a forward pressure hull or a reservoir., then a valve to allow this air to come back into the tank to force the water out.

The tank itself can be a simple box of the correct capacity open to the water at the bottom all the time and then sealed except for the outlet to the compressor, this system is all easily made at home, and cheap to manufacture.

Hope this is of use, and is only 1 way of doing it but with a hull that size its probably the easyist to do. can give more info if reqd

Regards SUb.
