discussion My Lancaster has a Ridge

Here are three images of my Revell "Dambuster" 1/72 Lancaster. They show a ridge running across the width of the of the fuselage where the Under Panel meets the under surface of the fuselage. (The Under Panel has not yet been glued, just dry-fitted.)

Is this a mistake by Revell? From the point of view of accuracy with the original Lanc, should I sand this ridge away to make it level with the under-surface of the fuselage? Thanks.

I'm sure someone will confirm yes or no as there are loads of people with more knowledge than myself, all I can say is I'm building the 1:48th Tamiya Lancaster and there is no ridge on that one, its the BI/III version kit btw Adrian

could it be something to do with the airscoop at the rear of the bombbay door,raised a little to aid in the spinning of the bomb

Well, the surface of the ridge faces to the rear of the plane. There are two tiny windows in the cross-bulkhead right next to that ridge. They look fore and aft into the space under the rear extension of the floor of the cockpit. (?) I will have to visit a Lanc. sometime to see it in the flesh.

just been on the britmodellers website,and to them (looking on their forum)its an oversight of revell,in other words a mistake lol,maybe you have to make it fit with some steve magic
