It has been a very hectic and emotional time this past few weeks, with my Father in hospital for the past six weeks, sorting him out and the turmoil of finally having to come to terms with the fact that he needs specialist care and has to go live in a home; couple that with my bad teeth (still not 100%) it has been rough.

We have come to terms with the situation and are trying to move on, so with my Dad moving my Mum has wanted something for 63 years and never got one, as a child her parents could never afford one and when married other things got in the way and my Dad didn't really like them.

So...I have finally got my Mum a dolls house. I got it from Ebay and it was local to me, a 8 room Georgian style house, all wood windows and doors, skirting boards and wooden steps and banisters, it even has lighting (which needs attention) all this was got for...£20!

Going to slate the roof and bay-windows with real slate, sort out the lights and re-glue the skirting, fit some clear acetate to the windows and then she can decorate and fit it out.

It is lovely to see my Mum smiling and giddy, it is like she is 10 lol!

So, some piccies.

Si:)

Brilliant Si, really pleased for you and your mum, a right proper bargain as well...bonus!

Best wishes mate

Lee :)

I hope you are going to do a proper job on your mums house and were not going to see you on cowboy builders in a few months time with Dominic Littlewood and his film crew chasing you down the road. mind you having Melinda Messenger come round to sort your place out has a few big advantages. nudge nudge wink wink know what I mean squire.

But seriously its a nice thing your doing and I hope your mum likes her dolls house.

I bought my wife a dolls house a few years ago for Christmas and we have both really enjoyed the modelling side of it. I put new flooring, lighting, improvements etc and my wife has enjoyed fitting it out. We still have a long way to go but it is surprising just how much scale modelling enjoyment you can get from a dolls house. Be careful mind, the first thing she did was steal a couple of my 1/12 resin figures that were, up until that point crewing a model boat!!

.............and 20 quid for that house was an absolute gift!

Brilliant Si I am sure your mum loves it, it looks great now so cant imagine how good it will look once its had a dose of the Si magic.

Surprised at you Si. 63 year old mother and you buy her a four storey house with all those staircases.

Stannah Lift may be.

Nice thought for your mother. Sad to hear about your Dad they are precious.
