Hi,

Have you ever seen the film, 'The Great Escape' with Steve Mcqueen. Not sure if its the one you need but it shows the camp very well and you could get an idea of what you need to build. It is also a great classic film to watch, i have watched it many times.

yeah, i have also watched it several times. i am trying to get ahold of a copy of it for myself. im still up in the air as to wut scale to make this. i plan on getting as detailed as i possibly can with this since it will be my first major diorama.

You first of all need to decide just how much of the camp you want in your scene, which could be anything from an inside of a single hut to an entire camp. Once you have decided that you then need to decide just how big you want the finished diorama, this will then dictate the scale you should be going for.

If you are looking at an internal diorama of a scene inside a hut I would suggest 1/35th. This is big enough to show plenty of detail and there is a huge number of accessory and figure kits that you can use and adapt to create what you want.

i was thinking about doin the whole camp. and having only a couple of the buildings open up to see inside. an im thinkin about makin the base for the whole diorama 2'x3'

So once you have found out the actual dimensions of the real camp a model of 2-3 foot will then give you the scale. I suspect though that the scale wopuls have to be quite small and therefore the insides of a hut will be too small to be able to show any detail.

There was a table top game with minatures that let you download cardmodels of typical ww2 pow camp buildings. Think it was for 20 mm figures.

This is the link I have for it, which is now not working, but you may be able to track it down.
