Hi all!

My name is Alice, I'm a student at the London College of Fashion, and I have a slightly unusual request for you...

I'm currently working on a project where I take old, unwanted fabrics and give them new life by printing on them. The printing technique I'm using is marbling - if you've not done it before, it's basically just floating paint on water and transferring that pattern to paper or fabric. Here's an example of some beautfiful marbled clothes,

(I can't take credit for this - it's Stella McCartney)

Anyway, there are plenty of expensive, specialsed marbling inks on the market, but having done a couple of successful experiments, I've found humbrol enamel paint works really well! I had a box of leftover enamel paints, but I've almost used them all up. I really like the idea of making use of something which is no longer required by that particular user, so I thought I'd see if any of you have leftover enamel paint that you aren't expecting to use. It might be a colour you bought for a project that you doubt you'll use again, or it might be an amount that you don't think is useful to keep, either which way I'd like to hear from you! I appreciate that most of you will keep your paints for future use, which is great, I do the same with fabric, but I thought it was worth asking just in case.

Thanks for reading!

Alice

Humbrol enamels can last for decades unused so most modellers hang on to them. You never know though. Best of luck with your project Alice.
