Well I painted (am painting) my model of HMS Victory and I think it looks pretty spectacular. However I am painting as I go, since there are so many finicky parts which are different colours I think it would be very difficult to pint the model when finished.

I have got my paint tips from The HMS Victory site

http://www.hms-victory.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=78&Itemid=111 and although not complete there are some good pictures.

Try this site: • Index page

You'll find the folks there are just as helpful as those here - and the skill levels displayed simply have to be seen to be believed!

If it is the Airfix kit that you have I would say paint it! I have a book called HMS Victory in a series called Classic Ships, Their History and How to Model Them by Noel C L Hackney printed in 1970 and originally priced 21 shillings. Chapter 6 is on Colour Detail - and it is that. If you like I can scan some of the pages for you. The book is 96 pages long and tells you how to make the Airfix kit in great great detail. It was produced in association with Airfix at the time. Pretty marvellous book really, couldn't believe my eyes when I found it.

Ade.
