I am about to start painting my tamiya Bismarck, then I am going to build the tamiya mosquito, does everybody prime all
Surfaces first , I have brought the ultimate surface primer grey , would this be ok.

I don’t normally prime models unless they’re made of metal or resin, or contain parts of those (in which case I often only prime those bits), or if I need to put a light finish on a model made of dark plastic.

i prime everything........normally a light coat whilst all the parts are on the sprue before i start any building, then a proper coat before i do any colour coating

I personally like to prime the hole model first before painting, I always give a thin coat of Vallejo surface primer with the airbrush.

I do the same as Steve, also use Halfords plastic primer, warmed up and well shaken!

I always prime everything. It gives a good base for further paint and also shows up any blemishes which need dealing with. I usually use Stynylrez grey.

Don't prime a thing here. Maybe i should but i've never needed to before. The only 'primer' i would do is if i was doing a metal finish paint job and that would be with gloss black

Prime almost everything. Wet & dry (wet) all surfaces with 1200 grit.

Removes the shine & provides a grip for the primer. The primer gives
a good coat over all the filling carried out which gives a surface
obliterating marks etc. also gives great indication of where more
filling is required & where filling needs more attention.

For priming I use Stynylrez (crackpot name) marketed by Badger.
Best primer I have used. Very self levelling. Hard. Finishing paint
coat can be applied after an hour.

After an hour areas needing filling can be attended to. Once the filling
is dry Stynylrez can be wet & dried & it will sand to a very fine feather
edge.

Apply Stynylerez to make good the affected areas you will not notice
any join. Approx 6 colours are available including black, yellow & white.

You will be very unlucky, with the above prep, to get a tear with masking
tape removal.

I agree with the above the stynylrez is a great primer even on delicate PE I have never had fault with this primer
Vallejo primers are good too ( my choice )
Prime everything as I find paints look better but again personal choice

Always prime first, I use various, Halford plastic primer gives a lovely finish for the top coat. I also use Vallejo and Games Workshop too.
